MIRALLES, Perpetuum Mobile

27 May to 29 August

Design Hub will host the exhibition MIRALLES, Perpetuum Mobileorganised by the Design Museum, the Enric Miralles Foundation, the Barcelona City Council and the Government of Catalonia.

An unprecedented exhibition on the facet as designer of the architect Enric Miralles, forming part of the series of activities “MIRALLES” which are being held in Barcelona during the year 2021 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the artist’s death.

For the first time it will be possible to see furniture and objects originally designed by the architect for his own home. These are unique pieces never reproduced until now, all with one element in common: mobility.

The exhibition will include, for example, the tables Inestable, Dolmen, Troncosand Tropical, the shelf unit Lelukappi, inspired in the work of the architect Alvar Aalto, or the chairs Nen and Sentada. The pieces are completed with unpublished plans, drawings, and sketches of the design process of these pieces.

MIRALLES, Perpetuum Mobile is curated by Benedetta Tagliabue and Joan Roig, organized with the support of American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) with wood donated by AE Maderas and with the collaboration of the architecture studio Miralles Tagliabue EMBT.
