ESPAI FORMICA® A PLACE TO BELONG

09 June to 17 June

Espai Formica® is a collaborative academic-professional project, developed between Elisava, Barcelona School of Design and Engineering and Rhode Island School of Design RISD; and led by the müsing-sellés design studio, based in Madrid and New York, for the company Formica Group.

Within the framework of the objectives of the New European Bauhaus initiative, the intervention seeks to review and question the capacity of collective spaces, public and private, to adapt to a changing society, to contribute to a new common sense of space and, therefore, a new collective sense of belonging.

The project will develop an ephemeral architectural intervention to reactivate one of the industrial warehouse within the Nau Bostik complex in a new decapitalized space, designed and included for the community. The reactivation will be carried out through the creation of a sequence of coexistence spaces, which will evoke a new collective domesticity through audiovisual and sensory installations through the materiality of its elements. The space has been designed entirely with Formica® high pressure laminates enhancing the versatility and ability of the material to create multipurpose architectural atmospheres and spaces.

Through the combination of metallic finished with different levels of reflectivity and a smooth color, a space full of materials and contrasts has been created that allows to present a new stage in the city to communicate and explore a new sense of belonging. collective.
