LAB ESDESIGN x INÈDIT // REUSE / CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND THE IMPROVEMENT OF RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

22 June

The company Inèdit launched the challenge of the 8th Edition LAB ESDESIGN, the itinerant laboratory of projects of the school of design ESDESIGN, which aims to solve real and current challenges of companies through design. The challenge, “Reuse as a strategy towards sustainability”, was worked for 4 days by students of the school.

In this conference, Sofia Garin (Inèdit Senior PM) reflects on the circular economy and opens a space for presentation of new proposals for sustainability designed in the LAB ESDESIGN.

Scarcity of materials and supplies, users with different needs (more volatile and with lower economic capacities), faster consumption patterns, new regulations that promote circular economy and reuse… all this leads to the possibility of reducing the environmental impact through the recovery and reuse of the products we consume, including, for example: furniture, clothing and textile accessories and food packaging.

Reuse is a way of reducing the use of virgin resources without, unlike recycling, making mechanical or chemical modifications to the materials and products. In other words, extending the useful life of products already manufactured through second uses for the same or different purposes.
Can you imagine that every time you moved you threw away your furniture? You wouldn’t, would you? Then you’ve already participated in reuse models through second hand. But… how can we take this one step further? For example, by designing for longer life, through the right choice of materials, through repair services, through modularity, etc.
