Family Business and Creativity
More than 65% of the enterprises based in Catalonia are family firms (source: ACC1Ó). This represents a much higher proportion than the European average and provides an indication of the powerful role such businesses play in Catalonia’s economic development. To compete in today’s market, many of these firms invest heavily in creativity, design, the new technologies and innovation, as well as implementing, where necessary, changes to their business model or measures aimed at internationalisation, enabling them to open up new markets. As a result, many such companies not only manage to compete, but also achieve differentiation within their sectors.
The session devoted to Family Businesses and Creativity will bring the 2009 BCN Design Week to a close with the participation of representatives from leading Catalan businesses who will explain their companies’ recent evolution and how they apply creative methods in their business strategies.
